My 10-year-old journey with Harry Potter just came to an end.
I loved the bittersweet ending and must confess that Deadly Hallows is the only book that I refused to read because the movies were always a disappointment after reading the books.
I have so many things going on in my mind right now, so I am just going to type whatever comes to my head. The first thing I can’t help but notice is the comparison with Biblical similarities. The final meeting of Harry and Dumbledore happens to be at, ‘King’s Cross; The snake Nagini gets killed by a sword; Harry’s self-sacrifice which results in his resurrection, Voldermort’s baby soul in King’s cross which depicts what or who he really is; the wand choosing Harry in the end, and once all the Horacrux were destroyed Voldermorth’s powers all diminish, which tells that they weren’t even his in the first place. And the final downfall of him where he turns back to mere dust, then the faithful all injured yet victorious in the end.
Then there is the last scene in the bridge
where Ron, Hermoine, and Harry stand together- all grown up, injured.
It reminded me of so many things- they entered Hogwarts first as eager children, ready to learn, equip and train- and all their training were put into hardcore practice as they fought the dark powers of evil and black magic. Years of fearing ‘u know who’ studying, exams, and more training in the process and the end result is as we suspected- victory for the faithful and the end of the dark lord.
Yet it wasn’t easy, and they had to face numerous trails, lost many loved ones, some were suspected of traitors, yet were faithful some fell down, some betrayed them etc.
And it made of think- sometimes my Seminary
here at SAIACS reminds me of Hogwarts we
the students come eager to study, train and learn to combat the dark forces of
the evil powers in the world- and yet at the same time we fear- we have our
doubts and we fear the dark lord or in our case Satan even though we know that
his fate and future remain defeated. We will and some have already gone through trials of many kinds, where some will backslide and join the dark force,
some faithful ones are falsely accused, some do not make it, and some even lost
their lives.
Harry also had a bit of the dark force with
him, but he did not let it rule over him, rather he was ready to even die when
the time came for him to give up his life so that he can defeat the dark lord.
I wonder if we are like that, ready to give up our lives, or ready to die to
ourselves so that good may triumph over evil when the time comes.
